My name is Karen Wheeler and I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I have had the opportunity to travel on the journey of treatment and early recovery with several clients. I am very passionate about the helping profession and consider it a privilege to help those that face day to day challenges with addiction.
Some of my earlier experience and professional development started with Mecklenburg county as I provided supportive services to women and their children in a prenatal substance abuse program. My career continued as I provided substance abuse treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings. It was during this time that I began planning to start my own practice, so that I can provide clinical services in a private setting.
In 2011, I graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC with my Master of Social Work degree. Although I have spoke often about my master’s in social work being a terminal degree, the classroom of life continues for me as I consider myself as a life long student. I am excited about the new changes in substance abuse treatment and keep abreast of treatment modalities that help offer the most cutting-edge therapeutic services.
My hobbies are traveling, gardening and cooking. I am married to my best friend and together he and I enjoy our six adult children and our grands. We are avid sports fans and yes, we have a favorite team. I consider myself a very spiritual person and enjoy early morning quiet time before starting my day.
If you are looking to start over or start a new journey, make sure you be intentional, clear your mind and your direction will change! I am here to help and would love to travel the journey with you.
